Our Story

A woman holding a young girl outdoors with a blooming cherry blossom tree in the background. The woman has long black curly hair and is wearing a beige sweater, while the girl has curly hair and is wearing a light green sweater and light-colored sneakers. They are both smiling and enjoying a sunny day in a park or garden.

Do you ever stare at a free weekend, want to take your kids out to explore, but instantly hit a wall of decision fatigue?

Between drowning in a sea of online reviews, trying to figure out if a spot is actually worth the effort with little ones, and feeling like it might just be easier to stay home, planning an outing can feel like a part-time job.

Preach!  When my family and I relocated from St. John’s to Vancouver for a year, I spent countless hours every week googling “things to do with a toddler in Vancouver”, digging through reviews, and trying to piece together realistic itineraries. Coupled with solo-parenting while my husband Jamie was buried in a demanding fellowship schedule, I realized I was spending so much energy trying to figure out where to go.

So, I started mapping it out myself.

Every week, I designed intentional, tried-and-tested adventures for my daughter Yuyu and our newborn son Gabe. What started as a way to just get out of the apartment, explore  and document our year, turned into a collection of practical blueprints for fun family life in Vancouver.

Between my own work, the groggy newborn phase, and the general chaos of life with a toddler, our year was undoubtedly the most exhausting season of my life - but simultaneously, the greatest adventure. Making these weekly plans and hearing Yuyu ask to go on a "venture," became some of my most treasured memories of the year. It’s funny how life works like that; I look back on it all so fondly.

As we move back home to Newfoundland, I wanted to leave these tested paths behind for other parents. This blog is my heartfelt "thank you" to this incredible city and gift to you: a collection of our family’s favorite toddler-and-adult adventures, tried, tested, and ready for other parents  to enjoy long after we’ve gone.

My approach is strategic, candid, and intentional because my ultimate goal is for you to leave this page feeling excited, hopeful, and entirely equipped with a ready-to-go plan for your next family outing.

With love,
