Where We Spent a Wake Window: Little Beans Play Cafe.

Getting There from Vancouver: It took us about 40 minutes to drive from Kitsilano to Little Beans Play Cafe in Port Moody.
Parking Pointers: I may have gotten lucky with street parking right in front of the cafe on our visit that was free for up to 4 hours.

Wheely Friendly?
They have a dedicated parking area right outside the cafe! There isn’t room for strollers inside.

The Snack Situation:
Oh, their menu is glorious and it caters to more than just toddlers.
Toddler Heavy-Hitters: They have a few essential snacks like Goldfish and fruit/veggie pouches for quick grabs.
Substantial Bites (for all ages): Beyond the basics, they boast a great kids' menu with actual meals (think meatballs, mini tapas box,quesadillas, and pancakes)
Adult Feasts: The adult menu offers fantastic variety for all diets
Our Picks: I may have gotten a little too excited and didn't realize how big each portion was, so I ordered too much. Yuyu adored her baby hot chocolate and polished off a cheese quesadilla and mini pancakes. Both came with a generous side of mixed fruit, which I ate after her pancake excitement. I had a waffle brie sandwich and arugula salad which was alright.
Potty Proximity:
Excellent! Little beans have clean, on-site bathrooms. They have change tables & steppers for little legs

Our "Mum & Me" Date
Jamie's parents were visiting, so they looked after Gabe while Yuyu and I snuck off for a special "mum & me" date.
Loved their eating booths right near the play area.
Little Beans Cafe Vibe & Features
Love! This cafe is everything I hoped for in a play cafe. The space is big, bright, and chic, clearly designed with parents in mind. I especially loved the cute eating booths that perfectly overlook the play area - no craning your neck! Even small details like hooks for bags on the booths made a difference.
Kitchen Peek: Yuyu was obsessed with watching her meal being made through the glass kitchen window. Every time she asked where they were (about 53 times), I'd just point, and she'd be happily distracted.
Community & Finds: They have a rack of adorable pre-loved clothes for sale (Yuyu picked an outfit I sadly forgot to buy). Plus, community boards and a small gift selection add to their welcoming, local feel.
Bonus Perk: Above the cafe, there's a drop-in daycare. Such a useful concept for parents who need a little more time.
The Play Area: Spacious & Engaging
The play area itself is spacious with tons of different toy stations. We spent most of our two hours tackling puzzles, zooming down slides, and (im)patiently waiting for other kids to release the ice cream flavors Yuyu wanted to play with!
Toddler Tolerance Level:
2 hours ( our session time). Yuyu probably could have stayed longer but was happy to go outside again when I said we’d go for a walk.
Nap Roulette Options?
The Gamble: Yep, we rolled the dice! The lovely staff at Little Beans told us about Rocky Point Park, just a short walk away. Despite the heat and no stroller (my cardinal sin!), we bravely set off. What's a "quick walk" with a toddler anyway? It took us about 30 minutes, and I definitely carried her half the way when the novelty of freedom wore off. Lesson Learned: when in doubt, always bring the stroller!
The Payoff: Rocky Point Park truly was worth the effort! Even the walk over a bridge with a train station below was a highlight for Yuyu. We were too full from waffles and pancakes to try the ice cream from Rocky Mountain ice cream (a major regret as I write this). The park area boasts wonderful picnic tables, kayak rentals, and a fantastic kids' playground. Yuyu loved running up the pier and watching the boats. I even spotted signs for the Shoreline Trail - I’ve logged it for next time.
Verdict: Rocky Point Park honestly deserves its own dedicated day adventure, but our one hour there was packed with fun. We eventually took an Uber back to our car as Yuyu had completely given up on walking, but she rewarded me with a glorious nap on the drive home!
